Can someone please give me some advice regarding a wood heater please.
My wood fire is very hard to maintain because it has been installed inside an opening that used to be an open fire. Only the very front of the fire is in view and maintenance is very difficult unless the fire is pulled out each time. It's an older wood fire that has a baffle plate that is "welded in place" and there is a small bend just above the fire in the beginning of the chimney that can not be viewed either.
A flue cleaner brush was used to clean it from on top if the roof but a bad blockage still remains.
I was advised cleaning it is a big job and was told to instead use kill soot and get a blazing hot fire going to "burn out the blockage".
Can anyone tell me if this is advisable??? Or is it safe to do that??? Your advise would be very much appreciated. Cheers.
