I'd apreciate your advice. We are interested in buying a house (recently built), 40sq and double storey. It has a electric reverse cycle heating/cooling unit, with zoning. I have always been a gas ducted heating fan (bc its cheaper to run - given we live in Melbourne and its cold). 1. I was wondering is it possible to keep the current ducts (which are zoned) and replace the unit with a gas ducted unit with or without electric cooling? 2. Is it possible with some reverse cycle units to keep that on and just use the cooling component with the gas ducted? 3. How much does a good effiicient gas unit cost, and how much would it cost to install? Very grateful for your replies. MF Re: Can you convert reverse cycle to gas, and price? 3Aug 10, 2009 3:31 pm Generally the ducts for heating are smaller than reverse cycle. Heating ducts are usually 150 or 200mm diameter. It can be done where they join the ducts just near the grille, but it is a bit of a cheap way of doing things in my opinion. Personally, i would add a complete new gas system on with it's own ducts and outlets if you wanted to do this option. Not sure on costs, but around $3-5K i think for gas ducted using all new equipment. consider putting in wall WC instead of robe in the same bedroom, then it might be doable to hook up to the existing piping. 4 3584 I want to build a decking to the drawn shape outlined in black. The problem is how close can I build to the gas hot water unit? Will I be able to build around it and be… 0 1598 Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes. 1 28882 ![]() |
