Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Jun 02, 2013 9:39 pm Hi, I have a wood heater (a smallish one with a glass door) in the corner of the dining room..it sits on bricks on an angle and theyve put the sides very close to the wall..so part of my wall is melted from the heat of the fire..can anyone advise what to put around there to protect the wall? I was thinking of tiling but someone suggested stainless steel? Also i have a smallish 3 bedroom house and the heat only warms the lounge, dining and kitchen..any reason why it wouldnt reach the bedrooms? could it have something to do with my insulation? I think its very old..thanks! Re: What to put on the wall near wood heater 2Jun 05, 2013 9:44 pm Was this installed recently?? If so, I would first contact the installers for advice -sounds like it has been installed too close to the wall. Have you check the manufacturer's recommendation and see if it has been installed correctly? There are some heat-resistant plasterboards that might be suitable - look at Gyprock FyrchekMR and similar. 0 1337 Our standard double-glazed window is tested to achieve, Rw 34, and can be glazed to suit Rw 39.
