Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 May 16, 2013 10:48 am Anyone put one of these in during the build, or even after? What provisions do we need to make if we'd like to put one in? We're at framing stage currently, could be too late. The spot we've picked is most likely an internal wall, if possible. I'll probably email that Heat n Glo company but just thought I'd ask people here. We have given the builder the information specs provided by the supplier. We were told to ask for... - framing to suit the heater. - capped gas pipe - power point - there was some mention of an external switch to cut power to the heater, however I don't think we went ahead with it. - provision to make sure there is enough room for a flue, because we are building double storey, this meant a bulkhead for us (as ours is also on an internal wall) - we have also been given permission to install the flue before plaster is installed, just to make things a little easier. - you will also need to make sure the wall is the right width. Re: Gas Fireplace 3May 17, 2013 2:36 pm Thanks Agape. Looking at that, I don't think we'll be able to do it - too late for a lot of that. Might have to be on an external wall and down the track. Guessing it will be a pain to retro fit. Maybe we'll just wait and see how good our central heating is once we move in! Might not need it. Flued through the ceiling. Could have put it in an inner wall with a fire box/mantle etc and flued up through the ceiling (which is what I wanted) but high pitched roof so more flue. However we chose the cheaper option as we had too many other things to pay for. Looks great! I don't see the problem with a retro fit? Re: Gas Fireplace 5Jul 21, 2013 10:14 am Thanks Wanderer. Well done. We've been told we can't use that internal wall, because we're double story so it's a bit more complex. We may be able to do a retro fit on the external walk but that means the TV will be above it. We have a large N/W facing window and are wanting to have a wood slow… 0 13730 No the fireplace doesn’t work. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11589 I would probably render it and then paint it as per your other advice, or gyrpock over the top. 1 3344 |
