Hi,
I've decided to insluate our wooden floor using bradford batts, held in place by chicken wire. We have easy access to the area beneath the floors and it appears to be a cheap easy solution. We already own the chicken wire and an electric staple gun.
The only thing I am unsure about is moisture protection. Some of the research I have done says to use a moisture barrier between the wooden floorboards and the batts. Other places say to not use a moisture barrier so that spills etc can just fall through the batts harmlessly. Some other places say that the dirt floor beneath the house needs to have thick plastic sheet laid over it.
Are these measures excessive or are they commonplace? Do most people just stick the bats in place and forget about them? Any other advice ?
