Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 May 03, 2013 2:25 pm We are looking at installing a gas heater, but have young children and asthmatics in the house, so we don't want an unflued heater. (We are in Sydney, so unflued heaters are not actually banned here as they are in some other states.) Is there such a thing as a flued gas heater which can be connected in winter, then disconnected from the outside ventilation and stored away over the summer months? If so, can you recommend any models for a medium-sized room? A flame-effect would be nice, but not essential. Re: Portable flued gas heaters: do they exist? 2May 03, 2013 2:38 pm DH installed a flued heater in our old house for the same reason (children). He had to drill a hole in the wall for the flue. The other option was to go through the floor or the ceiling / roof. We disconnected the heater when we knocked the house over because we wanted to keep it for the new house, but to disconnect it every summer would be a pain in the butt, and you'd have a pretty big hole where the flue should be - although I guess in theory you could go through the floor if you were on bearers and joists and just put a rug over the hole every summer. Re: Portable flued gas heaters: do they exist? 3May 07, 2013 1:46 pm What about a portable heater, with an adaption kit for a flue? Could the flue remain, with a plug, in summer while the heater itself is put in storage? Would this work? If so, can anyone recommend brands? models? Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13771 4 10821 |
