Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation Re: Heating options for bedrooms... 22Apr 23, 2008 9:21 pm I have spoken to him, and he says it's fine or rather he said "it's not negotiable" which I took to mean is engineers speak for it is acceptable. Fire Tas have already signed off on the bushfire management plan which showed the driveway and have been on site. I think if they had concerns they would have raised them. The landscape architect had just never heard the figure for the slope before so when I mentioned 25% she got a bit concerned. BUT I have to call her again to see if she has contacted fire tas, if not I'll do it myself as that's how everything else got done, by by-passing the middle people.
Oh and don't worry we never considered using the armco and as for the ferns our block is way too dry, but thanks anyway. I think that's what we have to have on the down hill side of the drive way......really attractive in a bush setting...NOT . Sigh. PS 'P' can we have a 'sigh' emoticon, I've been doing a lot of that lately 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: Heating options for bedrooms... 25Apr 23, 2008 9:39 pm This is a gabion wall, its basically rock contained within wire mesh baskets

That's what i originally thought he meant, but then he sent me on a wild goose chase around Hobart to look at these walls and the only ones i could see were the first type. That's a lot better. We could maybe use sandstone from the site, although we are planning to use that for retaining walls elsewhere
The retaining 'wall' on the upper side of the driveway for the turning area may just be left au naturale as it is likely to be sandstone. Our house is actually going to be 'set into' an existing (small) sandstone quarry. Thanks as always 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: Heating options for bedrooms... 28Apr 23, 2008 9:55 pm 'chelle Our house is actually going to be 'set into' an existing (small) sandstone quarry. Using the sandstone would be perfect so that it blends into any outcrops. There's no hidden stockpile of old quarry rock on your site is there as it needs to be a reasonably consistent size for gabions. And I'm afraid to say if they are over a 1 to 1.5 metres they have to be "engineered" a.k.a. use a guy with slide rule and pocket protector..... but I'm sure your architect has that under control. mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Heating options for bedrooms... 29Apr 23, 2008 10:08 pm to_do_list Using the sandstone would be perfect so that it blends into any outcrops.
