Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation Re: Actron Air conditioning ducting ESP Series vs Daikin 21Feb 15, 2013 8:59 pm I see what you mean about reputable tests I guess they expect people to trust them based on their reputation Don't get me wrong Nothing wrong with Inverters I have friends with both systems and plenty get sold every year Both seem to have advantages over each other as most things inevitably do Starting power, vermin issues, cost of repair, part availability controls etc But I cant find anything about energy savings on the cooler days on the other brands either Do you know where I can read something about part load savings for brands like Daikin, Fuji and Mitsubishi? What do the others say Where can I find that info ? Anyone got a link? Re: Actron Air conditioning ducting ESP Series vs Daikin 22Feb 16, 2013 7:14 pm Actually after careful consideration and speaking to friends, I've decided to go with the Actron ESP + Ultima series. I've been informed it doesn't require a constant zone, and it is energy efficient. I pay a bit more on extra controllers, but the good thing with the Ultima series is you turn on the main controller and set it to 24 degrees, and set it to the room you want to cool. So let's say I want to cool Bedroom 1 and 2. I go to the main controller and turn on bedroom 1 and 2, but in Bedroom 1 and 2, I can turn the temperature 3 degrees up or down. With the Daikin Ducted, for a 12.5kw, I'll still need to have a constant zone turned on, which in my opinion, I'll be wasting $$$. I'm in no hurry to purchase the Actron until the retailers throw in some special offers. Hopefully in July or August in Perth. Re: Actron Air conditioning ducting ESP Series vs Daikin 23Feb 17, 2013 1:05 am Sending this reply from just south of Karratha. It gets hot up here. In Industry where cost just doesnt seem to matter as much theres a standard in electrical substations etc......................Its called Daikin. Many years ago my Father owned 'Karratha Refrigeration " It was impressed on me that the only brand rated to perform in 46deg was Daikin. Maybe time has changed the clear Product lead that Daikin had but it still Dominates up here(Market Lead) in the Pilbara and North west. I installed Daikin Ducted in my House in Perth, had it on the two houses I built in Karratha and am getting Daikin Ducted in our new Dwelling in Northam. I havnt had a failure of any units in service. In my book and in heavy Industry Daikin is the Mercedes of A/C. im not trying to pump my tyres up here I'm just saying it's the Industry standard. Seriously I wouldnt even contemplate anything else..................but I dont give a rats about cost, i'm not into penny pinching and calling fridgies up. They are used because they can control temp very accurately, are simple requiring few electronics, are very robust and reliable and relatively cheap to fix. Inverters are complex and can be very expensive to fix when electronics fail, compressors don't like running at less than full speed requiring oil return cycles, under field testing where an inverter compressor is not locked to a certain speed they are often a lot less efficient than their rated eer's or cop's, when locked they should be more efficient at part load Their are a number of independent papers discussing this, suggesting new testing standards are required for inverters.
