Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Dec 05, 2012 4:25 pm I have enquired with a few heating/cooling specialists and still can't get a clear direction of where we should be heading. I'm hoping someone here could point us in the right direction. Our builder provides gas ducted heating and evaporative cooling as standard. As hubby and I dislike evaporative cooling we have asked the builder to leave this out and provide us with credit, which he is doing for us. Now we are investigating various aircon options and are getting a little confused We have been looking at... Bonaire refridgerated add-on unit (chose Bonaire as it will fit the Bonaire gas ducted heater) A standard ducted aircon A multihead split system unit From what we have found it seems the Bonaire add-on unit isn't powerful enough for our house as the largest available is 18kW and we have 240m2 of living to cool. Standard ducted aircon is looking too expensive and hubby seems to think the multihead splits are useless. His opinion not based on personal experience, instead it's based on what he's heard about them....... years ago In our current (18sq living) house we have individual split systems in the master bedroom and open-plan kitchen/meals/family and we're happy with how they cool the house. Does anyone here have a multihead split system? If so, how big is your unit/s and how well does it work to cool the area? Can all the heads be run at once or is there a limit? Or, can anyone here recommend a decent ducted aircon unit that won't break the bank?
