We bought a block of land NW of Melbourne (Macedon Ranges) and are currently looking at house designs and builders. From 3 builders we received a quote and all of them have included evaporative cooling as an add on system on the ducted heating.
We however are not sure if this is the right system for us, personally I don't like humidity. Our current rental has Daikin split systems in every room, we however use it only in our living area for heating (cooling just 2 days last year), in our bedroom we just use the cooling, last year +/- 7 nights. So overall we don't use them much and our electricity bill is annually less than $1000.
Our new house has R2.5 insulated walls, R4 insulated roof, double glazed windows and 450mm eaves. So with that in mind is ducted heating with add on evaporative cooling the best system for 2 adults with no kids who can better stand the cold than the heat?
