Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Sep 09, 2012 10:24 pm I have an old 3 story home that has been duplexed. It has a gas fired hot water boiler (hydronic). It currently has a hard wired thermostat in the lower apartment and no control for the upper unit. What make/model of a wireless thermostat would be suitable. It does not require a fan switch/cool mode as for the typical forced air/AC units. There are no "zones" in the system and l just wish to let the upper unit control the temperature in the building. I have spent 15 minutes with the Honeywell assistance phone centre (IN INDIA)..no answer Thanks Re: Hydronic Heating System Wireless Thermostat 2Sep 12, 2012 7:47 pm Hi, Wireless thermostats can introduce potential problems (missed signals, etc), so we tend to avoid using them. However, if it can't be avoided, we use the Siemens wireless control system- it seems to be pretty reliable and easily installed (probably by an electrician or Hydronic installer....perhaps book a service call and get it done at the same time?). Try calling Hunt Heating and ask to speak with someone about it (they'll answer their phones!). Not that you've asked, but there are a number of ways to retrospectively 'zone' a system and have dual or slave/master controls......for a price. if you're just looking to switch control from one area to another, the wireless option should be fine. Good luck!
