Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Aug 07, 2012 9:56 pm Just wondering if anyone has built with a product called Exsulite? Its by Dulux. We were looking for something with better thermal qualities than brick, but also more robust than Greenboard, and this is what our builder has suggested. Does anyone have any experience with it? The info the builder has supplied looks pretty good. We're still amazed there aren't more alternatives to brick available... Re: Exsulite 2Aug 11, 2012 8:38 am So no-one has used it? Wow. Well, I guess I'll just have to go with the info that our builder and the Dulux rep have given us. It's got an R value of up to 3.7 and its cheaper than doing rendered brick, so we figure its worth a try Re: Exsulite 7Jan 13, 2013 11:21 am Just read the website. From the pics it appears as though it is a fire resistant polystyrene. We built with normal poly and the insulation qualities are great. Cladding similar to this was available under a few other brand names, can't remember them now, but it was more expensive than straight poly and we had no need for it. If it costing no more great. Go for it. We're planning to build in Canberra and our builder has recommended it. Apparently it is about the same cost as brick, but has better thermal properties and you end up with a painted render appearance. Re: Exsulite 10Apr 16, 2013 9:29 pm We're still deciding! Todays Homes is the one that mentioned the Exsulite. But we're also looking at Rawson, Sekisui and Renaissance. Hard to make the final decision - who are you going with and how's it going? Re: Exsulite 14Apr 16, 2013 9:54 pm Is the exsulite up on the house yet? The rep from Today's Homes said they paint it to give a rendered look, and it still ends up being about the same price as if we'd gone brick. I'm not sure too many people have gone with Exsulite yet, so curious to hear how it looks. As you said a few posts back, it sounds a bit like living in an esky! Re: Exsulite 15Apr 17, 2013 11:03 am It almost sounds like hebel, which is what we have chosen to build with in Victoria! I know in Europe hebel is a product which has been used for years for its insulation properties. Good luck with the build Re: Exsulite 16Apr 17, 2013 9:08 pm House is still now built yet (It's been a long process, it better be worth it!!). We have been told the same, that the cost is comparable to brick, but we'll get the rendered look. Coupled with the insulation, it was a no brainer for us. Sambogirl81, it's been a while since I did the research, but from memory it insulates much better than hebel (which was also on our list). |
