Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Jun 03, 2012 9:03 pm A (sales)guy who sounded like he knew what he was talking-about at the home-show yesterday was saying that, if we wanted to heat the water for our under-floor heating using vacuum tubes, our problem would NOT be getting enough heat in winter, but getting rid of the excess in summer. So - just wondering what people know about this? Apparently one recent install by the salesguy's company used pipes running through a 30sqm patio to dissipate the extra heat, but we don't really want a hot alfresco floor in summer. Apparently using a pool is normal; but we aren't intending on getting one. It seems silly to be worrying about collecting excess energy when the point of getting solar collectors in the first place is to avoid using energy in the first place; but it's looking like it'll be way more exxy to be getting rid of this heat than the usually-expensive part of installing the heating-method in the first place!
