Got a suggestion from a mate on why not have the intake in the ceiling just above the old location. Anyway, thanks adgn.. Until handover day and the guys came to commission the gas heater and realised there was no return air vent - lol - but it was supposed to go in the ceiling in the hallway anyway - my only complaint with this is, it's between 2 beds and those 2 rooms are cooler than the rest of the house, someone said to me it's because of the return air vent sucking all the heat from these 2 bedrooms, so maybe question the position of where they will put the return vent. Re: Return Air on ceiling for ducted heating 9Apr 15, 2012 5:56 am It is normally at floor level so that the warm air entering from the vents in the ceiling is then drawn down to the floor before returning. This tries to alleviate any temperature differences with height - as warm air rises, there is a chance that it will be warm at the ceiling but cold at the floor.
