Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Oct 06, 2011 9:13 pm I'm thinking of importing the Velux solar hot water system which is designed for a 5 bedroom house (mine will be 3) for $7.5K Australia. Has anyone imported similar systems and had them installed? Was there any issues with plumbers etc? Importing solar hot water system? 2Oct 09, 2011 6:59 am Hi I think that you might have some difficulties with this unless the exact model is also available in Australia. I think plumbers can only install it if it has a Watermark approval - you can search here http://www.watermark.standards.org.au/ Also, what boost system does it use, gas or electric? As these systems would also need to comply with Australian standards. Finally, you may not be able to claim the STC/RECs if the system isn't recognised in Australia. Out of interest, why do you want to import this? Is it for the roof integrated panels? You can get much cheaper systems from Australian manufacturers.
