Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Feb 01, 2008 8:36 pm Sitting here in my lovely new home and for the sixth time I have a problem with my $11,000.00 air conditioner.
Every time Dandy Air come out to look at the unit they fix one thing and break another. I had Brivis, the manufacturer, come out and the tech took the time to show me where the problems were and how they could / should be fixed. After waiting 2 weeks for this visit they finally came yesterday (Thursday) afternoon and "fixed" the rattling noises coming from the roof by nailing down the boards the unit sat on and trimming all the excess silver from the inside of the reurn air duct. The tech said that the reurn air duct needed re- routing as the flow was compromised but the guy from Dandy Air disagreed with this. Who is the expert here?? The manufacturer or the installer? This has taken since the 7th of December so far to try and be fixed up. I came in this afternoon after a hard day in the front yard and guess what is not working again?? Hmmmmm A phone call to Carlisle Homes (by the wife as I was a little past angry) and so far nothing. This time the fan doesnt work upstairs and the Air Conditioning doesn't work. We have a fan that blows air downstairs though!!! Some advice for the new home owner. Do not accept your house until everything is finished... My wife and I were thinking earlier about all the trades who have been back to our house (and most more than once) and the only trade who has not been back was the guy who fitted the Ducted Vac and alarm... We liked Mick too Re: Carlisle Homes & Dandy Air - Incompetence or Unlucky? 2Feb 01, 2008 8:49 pm O…what joy for you!
Guess I’ll be putting C on the “NO TO DO” list if they ever come to my town! Keep smiling Matt; don’t let it all get to you too much, just keep up the phone calls! How bloody frustrating for you! We have been in the house for over 3 months now and things that should have been done two weeks after handover are still not done. Re: Carlisle Homes & Dandy Air - Incompetence or Unlucky? 4Feb 01, 2008 9:06 pm DON'T TELL ME THAT NOW..... WE'RE PAYING A SMALL FORTUNE FOR THE SAME BRIVIS ICE SYSTEM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope it is resolved soon though.... Re: Carlisle Homes & Dandy Air - Incompetence or Unlucky? 5Feb 01, 2008 9:09 pm Welcome back P!!!! The noise and vibration from them could not only be heard outside but through the walls into the house....(and it wasn't a quiet sound either) Not very nice at ALL. I can kick myself for not checking it out when we came round to your place, but did they install yours on wall mounted brackets or are they at ground level??? It was also interesting to see that they don't put rubber or neoprene washers or dampers on between the brackets/units and the house to avoid such vibration issues..... We will have to discuss these issues in more detail with the builder to avoid any similar instances at our place.... Hope your system is working well now??? Re: Carlisle Homes & Dandy Air - Incompetence or Unlucky? 11Jan 04, 2010 10:58 am I have an issue with my Brivis Profiler cooler...air isnt (cool) and only a slight breeze blowing through with my two boys front bedrooms still in the 30 c mark when 38c outside.. Installed by Dandy Air and now the phone number does not work. Seems once builders and contractors get there money they dont give a rats about the people anymore.. $5000 unit..not impressed at all.. Re: Carlisle Homes & Dandy Air - Incompetence or Unlucky? 12Jan 04, 2010 8:19 pm we are building with Carlisle and learning from reading your issues and then it hit me ! 1. what happens if its winter ,when your homes ready ,the cooler cannot be tested accurately under those conditions.. 2. do you keep the house closed and risk someone breaking in or do you just move in and hope Carlisle do the right thing? man hope we dont have to face all this ,but just in case . Re: Carlisle Homes & Dandy Air - Incompetence or Unlucky? 13Jan 10, 2010 10:34 pm Hi Matt we built with Henley and had 18kw brivis system fitted by dandy air i cannot complain about how the system has worked i did how ever have to make up a return air box to go over roof trusses where the inlet was as they just shoved a 16 inch duct in between the truss and return air cavity. Was glad to do it myself this way i know its right.System has worked fantastic over last 3 summers and looking forward to using it tomorrow. Dean We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 24787 Hello, Whats peoples current experience building with Carlisle, specifically in SouthEast Melbourne? We are currently building in SE Melbourne and finding that quality… 0 6947 How do you remove one of these ceiling air con vents? And is it possible to disconnect the duct joined to the vent from inside the house, without going into the roof cavity? 0 4027 |
