Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Sep 09, 2011 8:43 pm I'm after some advice re hydronic floor heating and timber floorboards. We are having floor coil heating installed, and for the most part our floor finishes are polished concrete and tiles. But there will be a area in a hallway and a walk in robe that will be floor boards. Our builder has planned for this so that the timber floor will flow seamlessly from the old to the new part of the house, but I'm wondering whats the best way to affix floorboards to concrete. Should we glue them straight onto the concrete or have battons then the boards. We have 100mm to play with and do have the option of not having any heating in those areas, but would prefer to. Any thoughts? Re: Hydronic heating query 2Sep 09, 2011 10:10 pm Don't use battons. The air gap will increase the thermal resistance too much. I suggest plywood fixed to concrete then timber to plywood. I used 12mm plywood and 12 mm slimwood. The direct contact that ply would give sounds like enough...and a much more cost effective solution Does anyone have a suggestion for a good hydronic in slab heating speacialist who may be able to help me with an existing system and wether or not it may need a seperator… 0 4882 Currently renovating, and our main lounge is 5m x 10m, with a cathedral roof peaking at 6.5m high.
