Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Aug 19, 2011 5:07 pm Hi, We're having a home built in Melbourne, just at frame inspection stage now. The house was designed by a draftsman from a local construction company, and we tendered the build to another builder. Anyway, the heating and AC guy came onsite last week to install the evap and ducted heating, and found there is not enough room through the roof trusses for the large evap ducts. Our room is fairly low pitch with two seperate sections joined by a couple of valleys. The trusses supporting the valleys is certainly "busy" to say the least - there's no way a person could crawl through, and certainly no way the evap ducts will fit. The builder tells me that this is "just one of those things", but I'm not so sure. The location of the evap and heater were clearly marked in the working drawings, as were all outlets and the heater return. Now, we're being asked to sign a variation to drop the evap and add a couple of split systems... higher cost to install and run, and of course the whole house isn't cooled. My wife's name isn't Jan, but she's definitely NOT HAPPY. What should we do about this? I can accept it's an unusal situation, but surely in this age of autoCAD-designed everything, this should've been avoidable. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks, Neil Re: Evap ducts won't fit through trusses 2Aug 19, 2011 6:05 pm Hear this story over & over again plans don't show where every timber is going to be and it's normally the problem of people wanting a low roof pitch but not finding out before hand how much room is needed and unfortnatley the aircon bloke doesn't get to see the plans or place until it's already started don't worry your not the only person this happens to Yes the knot that missing and split on the end. Turns out it needs rectification. 6 2928 Hello everyone Please advice me how can I install mesh security window or we cab say mesh flyscreen inside while the pvc plantation shutters are already installed?
