Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Jul 28, 2011 12:20 pm I was interested in having ducted heating put in under our house and had some questions: 1. Is there a consensus as to whether Brivis or Braemar systems are more reliable? 2. We were also thinking of getting air conditioning added to the system however I have heard that this is less efficient when it uses floor vents. Does anyone know if this makes a substantial difference (as opposed to having the vents in the ceiling)? 3. Two of the systems we are looking at have 5.6 or 5.8 stars. Do the 0.2 stars represent much of difference in efficiency? How are the stars calculated? Thanks in advance for any advice. Re: Ducted heating/air conditioning questions 2Jul 28, 2011 12:40 pm Stars measure efficiency. in terms of the amount of energy used to produce a certain amount of energy. 0.2 is minimal difference, and the difference between a good designed system versus a bad design one will effect the efficiency more. Personal i prefer the brivis system however others may have a better opinion. Cooling does work best coming from the ceiling so that you can adjust the vents so the air falls slowly. Also the internal units that are placed in the ceilings usually have more effective fans and better fan airflow speeds which is better for cooling.
