Upstairs we'll have brick veneer on our southern exposure and weatherboard cladding on the north. I'm looking at R2.0 rockwool bulk insulation --- both for acoustic and thermal insulation properties. But I'm also thinking about foil-backed insulation board in addition to the bulk insulation for extra coverage of the outer surface of the timber wall frame and for extra thermal comfort. Used alone, the board would have an R of 1.9 in the brick veneer walls and R1.5 in the weatherboard clad walls. (I'm looking at R-Max or Foilboard as brands for the insulation board.) Is the insulation board overkill? Would standard breather foil be enough, given we'll have bulk insulation? If insulation board would add noticeably to thermal comfort, any tips about installation when used with bulk insulation? thanks, B It's possible but a soak well is usually much larger. Your 'soak well' only holds 424 litres when full. What is your soil type? Soak wells need sandy soils. 10 8985 Finally got the Soakwell at my house sucked out.
