I recently moved in to my brand new house and was disappointed to find:
- * there was no Sarking lining the roof
- * the ceiling insulation was either squashed into small areas, or stacked up instead of being spread out
Rather than get the builder back I've decided to take matters into my own hands. So, I have some questions which I hope are useful to other members as well
Ceiling Insulation - how close to the edge of the house should it extend?
I am in the process of tidying up the insulation and don't know if it should overlap the tops of the walls and spill out over the eves, or if it should just go to the edge of the internal edge of the wall - or somewhere in between.
Sarking - how to attach it?
Is the gap between the Sarking and the tiles (I have a tile roof) critical? I purchased sarking and fastners but am unsure of where to start. I understand that it should be installed from the highest point to the lowest point so water drains away. Looking at the construction of my roof I don't think I will be able to get the Sarking to drain into the gutters - at best I could probably get it to reach the middle of the eves... but the real question is where should it extend to?
Does anyone have any photos they can share, or perhaps link to another post?
