Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Feb 18, 2011 12:30 pm Hi, I'm a first timer needing to install R3.5 earthwool insulation batts in the timber trusses between the ground and first floor. Trusses are 300mm deep and I'm installing from underneath. What is the easiest option to hold the insulation in place? I've read techniques including nylon, stiff wire fastener, perforated base hangers. The local supplies store recommends using iron hoop (flat metal strip). Is the insulation installed at the top or bottom of the truss? i.e. top pressing against the bottom of the first floor, or bottom to sit on the ceiling of the ground floor? Would the insulation be installed before or after electrical and air-con rough ins? With the first floor ceiling install, this should be easier installing from the roof cavity above the ceiling (top down). Could anyone offer any advice or considerations I need to be aware of? They also provide free phone advice on questions such as how to install in specific situations. Have you tried calling the manufacturer of your insulation?
