Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Feb 18, 2011 10:43 am Hi, could any of the experts give me their honest opinion on this unit 24kw Daikin. I've had a number of quotes from various companies and the guys that impressed me the most and really went out of their way to explain things to me recomended this hybrid unit over regular inverters. I understand that it is a constant speed unit that effectively has a soft start feature so it winds up a little slower without snapping on and off. The price is obviously cheaper ($3.8k cheaper than the similar 23 kw Actron), which also helps but I just want to make sure that there wont be any issues. A quick search has revealed noise concerns with the outside unit. The unit will be only 3.5m from our neighbour and while they have no bedroom windows right next to where the compressor will be, I am concerned that they may complain if it is to noisy. It would seem that all large systems are around the same level but if this unit is extra loud I'd like to know. Thanks. (it varies obviously) If you are going beyond say 7kW just hope you have understanding neighbours if you want to run it "after hours" - Check local council reg's and look at SPL levels in the specs = Sound Power Levels NOT SPL = Sound Pressure Levels - it's the same! Hopefully they state both (ways of manufacturers making out their units are quieter) - good luck You get what you pay for! Re: Daikin Hybrid FDYQN250KV1, comments please. 3Mar 01, 2011 10:00 am Spec's state that sound power level is 60 dba. Is that loud? I'll give the council a call today. They state "Outdoor Sound Level - Power dbA - 60 If it is Sound Power Level (SWL) it is very quiet for that capacity but Sound Pressure Level (SPL) needs to be understood also if this is the actual specification mentioned. Without SWL it is unclear to me (from their website) they mention 'Power' but not SWL / SPL directly. You get what you pay for! Re: Daikin Hybrid FDYQN250KV1, comments please. 5Mar 03, 2011 1:04 am Thanks for your help. The order is in, so will just have to wait and see. Fortunately the neighbour has no windows to habitable rooms facing the unit so it should be ok.
