Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Jan 31, 2011 10:10 am Hi All, As the subject line suggest I have a problem with the Add on Cooling. The issue is yesterday after a few hours of use the Compressor shut off, but internal fan was stilll pushing warm air through the house. I turned off the unit from the thermostat and then waited a bit and it turned it on again. It worked for five minutes and shut off again. I repeated this a few times during the day and the same thing happened. It was about 38 degrees outside at this time. I waited until the temp dropped and when it was 31 once this happened I turned it on and everything was OK. Does anyone know what can be causing it to shut down during the day? given it was only 39 degrees and below the limit of 50 degrees?? Re: Brivis Add on Cooling Fault What could be the problem 3Feb 02, 2011 10:35 am On inspection it appears that one of the fans is running backwards. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know what may cause it?? I have called Brivis and waiting for them to come out. Re: Brivis Add on Cooling Fault What could be the problem 4Feb 05, 2011 5:37 pm Without seeing it I am going to go with some kind of temperature sensor issue (there are quite a few on a typical refrigerated system). Discharge pipe sensor perhaps...? Whilst the units can handle 50 degrees they are actually rated at 35 degrees ambient and 27 degrees internal (dry bulb). A sensor may be detecting a false reading and shutting the compressor off otherwise a fault code will more than likely pop up if their was a fault. One for a technician... You get what you pay for! Re: Brivis Add on Cooling Fault What could be the problem 6Feb 13, 2011 8:59 am Not sure what you meant by the fan spinning backwards - never heard of that whilst the unit was actually running. The outdoor condensing unit fan? In assume there are 2 fans and one is spinning in the opposite direction to the other? You get what you pay for! Re: Brivis Add on Cooling Fault What could be the problem 7Feb 13, 2011 9:16 pm Yes its the condensor fan. There are two and one is spining in the wrong dih erection and therefore not removing as much heat. I did a google search and it appeared to be a comman fault that happens a lot.
