Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Dec 26, 2010 11:25 am Hi there, We're nearing the end of our build in the Perth area here and we're looking into a/c systems. The place we're renting right now has a Cool Breeze evap system ducted through the house. From reading the other threads here, I know that they're on the lower end of the scale in terms of quality. My question is though does buying a Breezair or Bonaire really make that much of a difference? If it gets to 40C and it's slightly more humid than usual and the evap is struggling, will having a higher quality one somehow deliver better performance or better cooling on those days? We're also looking into reverse cycle (ducted), but we're not sure our budget will be able to accommodate it. Thanks... Re: Difference between higher end and lower end evap systems 2Dec 26, 2010 2:08 pm We've got a Breezaire system and days like yesterday when it was 40 and humid it struggles. Only fix I've found is to put the setpoint really low overnight so it basically runs flat out and then the house is cold in the morning and the system is able to maintain a comfortable temp. Only real difference between expensive and cheap would be the quality of the motor Re: Difference between higher end and lower end evap systems 3Dec 26, 2010 2:15 pm Thanks for that... Yeah, yesterday in the house with the Cool Breeze on was not great...so, I'm reluctant to get evap in the new house, but at the same time, I don't know if anything else is in our price range. Re: Difference between higher end and lower end evap systems 4Dec 27, 2010 11:20 am Maybe go with the evap and put a couple of split systems in as well - main bedroom and living area? I went out on Friday and bought a 3kW portable refrig air con and now using that in our family room durng the day and bedroom at night - not great but it helps when the evap is battling. Splits would be better. Splits would be better. Ha, great minds think alike. I was just reading the latest evap vs. refrig thread on here and thought to myself, hmm...does it have to be either/or? Maybe ducted evap for most days and a split or two for the 40+ humid days where the evap fizzles out... interesting situation what happened after builder issued final invoice? did you list as defect or not does the building surveyor have any responsibility? ie. issuing… 13 47039 Hi there, We’ve recently had plans approved to add a 1st storey addition to our existing house for a growing family in Sydney.
