Re: Gas Log Fires 23Apr 30, 2012 11:14 am Hi, This is my current open fireplace and I have been thinking of getting a gas log fire inserted. Can anyone recommend a brand or model that would be suited to this space? Not sure how it will work with the brick arch shape? Were there any specials at the Melbourne Home Show on the weekend? The Sydney one is coming up at the end of the month, but otherwise does anyone know of any good deals? Re: Gas Log Fires 24May 19, 2012 7:14 pm This is my first time posting so I hope this is helpful. We have an Archer Gas Log Fire that needs fixing on a regular basis. When it works it is wonderful, but most of the time the red light comes on and the flames will not stay alight. Our plumber again called the company who advised over the phone which part needed to be replaced. This was the 4th time this had been replaced. They have sent it and it is not fixing the problem. I have asked the plumber to remove the unit as we can't spend anymore money on it. I know that plumbers do not want to fix these units as they are such a problem. I cannot recommend them as they are so unreliable. Hope this helps. Re: Gas Log Fires 25Apr 02, 2013 9:54 pm Hi, Did you end up going with the DV36? If so how has it worked out? I'm looking at getting one also? kiwirules Has anyone out there purchased a Legend DV36 (we've seen them at Schots) and the price seems very good relative to the Heat and Glo so we are a bit suspicious of the quality. Re: Gas Log Fires 26Apr 02, 2013 10:02 pm I have Infinity (4 years) and it is excellent, even though we have ducted heating we never use it anymore. We are looking at getting the double sided Lopi. This is mainly based on reviews / price / limited amount of double sided heaters available. If anyone has any other recs on double sided heaters, I am open to suggestions We are hoping it will create that warm ambiance that ducted heating lacks, we are also hoping it will be a selling point should we hope to sell in the future Re: Gas Log Fires 28Mar 25, 2014 10:24 am Stewie D Loretta , seeing as you are in Sydney see if you can get to one of the Jetmaster showrooms. http://www.jetmaster.com.au/ Their range is pretty good for both Jetmaster models but even better the Heatn'Glo brand. We were very impressed by them and from what the salesman said they sell a lot more of those now than the Jetmaster. They are very efficient and range from 25mj fires up to 100mj fires. Anyone looking to install a gas log fire should match the heater output ( mj ) to the room size in sq m. Stewie hi stewie just read this, not quite sure how to apply it? am looking at rinnai saphire with 30 mj rating and my area is 50 sm yet the specs say heats up to 70 sm in very cold climate (Im in hobart) threads ive looked at seem possitive for this model and yet a rinnai rep just warned me not to get this, am so confused!! ps I have 20sm of glass/high ceilings and floorboards/no curtains!! hobart, Re: Gas Log Fires 29Mar 25, 2014 10:41 am Quote: ps I have 20sm of glass/high ceilings and floorboards/no curtains!! Jiminy, you have everything going against you especially in a cold climate ! Did the sales rep say why not to get that unit ? I find that quite strange. If the specs say it will heat up to 70 sqm then it should be fine. Stewie Re: Gas Log Fires 31Mar 20, 2016 9:08 pm Hi guys, I read a lot of product reviews related to subj. For all model and all vendors, there were always a bunch of positive reviews and an equal pile of negative ones, so typically all have 2.5 starts of 5. So now I have a strong impression that the most important is not how technologically advanced a vendor or a device itself but how good support is, whether there will be a right technician near by, etc. Who could advise what to buy nowdays? We'll let you know what its like in a few months once the build is complete. Re: Gas Log Fires 33Jul 16, 2016 10:43 pm We to are currently building and looking at installing the Regency GF900L. At a cost of $7500 I am a little worried about reliability after reading the above comments, I am hoping things have improved since this thread first started. Although it is not are main source of heating as we are installing ducted heating, I really don't want the issues for that price tag. Has anybody got any feedback on Regency particularly customer service if things do go wrong???
