Hi everyone,
We're building a new house in Brisbane, and it's at the stage where they've put the sarking on the exterior walls and are laying the bricks. The other day we noticed a number of tears in the sarking, roughly two foot long or so - maybe four of them throughout the house. It looks as though it was caused by the bricklayers because there's big lumps of mortar around some of them.
I'm hoping somebody can tell me whether this is something we should be making a fuss of. They're not hugely noticeable but I'm concerned about it affecting the performance of the sarking, since it's no longer 'sealed' very well with the tears. Is it something we can ask the builder to fix with some duct tape, get them to replace the sarking or patch it properly, or is it not much of an issue at all and won't make any difference to its performance?
Thanks for the help!
