Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Nov 28, 2010 6:54 am We are building with a colourbond hip roof......Our basic requirement is sarking[sisalation] under steel roof and ceiling insulation.....We would like to decrease the heat that will be transmitted through the colourbond roofing into the roof space as well as to provide sound attenuation from rainfall.....Suggestions please. Has anyone used Acoustiflex or Vapourcheck sucessfully in place of just the sisalation. What system or combination is the best value for money? Acoustiflex to my knowledge is a mass loaded vinyl with no metal lining and is purely for acoustic insulation. I would foil under roof and acoustiflex over ceiling. But batts also help dampen noise. Anti Condensation meaning the 'sweat' from condensation under the sheeting does not enter the roof cavity. That for the roof and some form of insulation for the ceiling. A whirlybird or some form of ventilator I suggest for metal roofs also (aiding in extracting heat from the roof cavity) There was (in my day) a polyester batt which for cathedral ceilings was ideal with a foil backing You get what you pay for!
