Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Nov 03, 2010 8:31 pm We have just inspected our new home (pre-handover), to our surprise we have a lot of vents. Round one's we were told were gas heating, Squares one's that we were told are for evaporative cooling. We have been told that they cannot combine them. I have searched the net and there's not much on the subject. We went thought the show homes and all they have just small the round ones. So can anyone suggest to what is correct. Is this normal or is the build trying to take a cheap short cut? Re: Too many vents. 2Nov 03, 2010 8:43 pm Generally ducted heating and evaporative cooling are two separate systems with obviously two separate units and therefore will have their own vents. The heating are generally small and round the evaporative cooling are larger and square. This is generally standard in most homes and a cheaper option. A system which his both heating and cooling (and used in display homes) is one unit and therefore run through the one duct system only requiring one vent - usually smaller and can be round or square and have a different look to the standard heating or evaporative cooling vents - these systems are upgrades and are more expensive.
