Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Oct 01, 2010 12:46 pm I trying to decide whick system is the most water wise, economical and efficient. I have 3 systems in mind they are: 1. Brivis contour L43 Model with 9 outlets $5560. 2. Bonaire VSM65 with 9 outlets, rf controller $5145 3. BreezeAir EXH170D 8 outlets, harmony controller $5050 I live in Perth WA. Can anyone help me out please. Re: Which is the Best Evaporative cooling system 2Oct 03, 2010 11:06 am I personally think they are a waste of time and money! they don't work as Perth's weather is getting more humid each year. If you have timber floors -they will lift and split from the moisture from the evap You have to open doors and windows (which doens't make sence in 40deg heat) It doesn't cool the house down, just blows air from outside in These are from personal experience! Try refrigerated - if ducted refrig isn't in your budget you can get split sys - they work a treat - like walking in an icebox on those horrible 40deg days - set it at 25 or 24 deg and leave them on - you will never go back to evap Follow Feggle viewtopic.php?f=31&t=34992 Follow lilfeggle viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37149 Asbestosis Sux! Although my quotes are more expensive e.g. $4,990 for breezair 170d with only 5 outlets. Who was your quote by? Good luck with your choice - i reckon as long as they come with a decent warranty any would be okay. Warranty supplied with ours was 7 years - Harvey Norman. Whatever you do don't go with a guy called Alwyn from Healthy Home Conditioning - found out just before we signed on the dotted line he a crook well known for running off with people's deposits! cheers. Re: Which is the Best Evaporative cooling system 6Oct 12, 2010 10:50 am The brivis is the better product IMO. I am a refrigeration mech and that's what I have in my current house and will put in next. The main difference between evaporative and refrigerated is the running costs. Evaporative costs about 20'cents and hour and refrigerated costs about 2 dollars an hour. I had refrig in the old house and will be going with refrig again in this new build. We have evap in the rental we are in and there is nothing like refrig Follow Feggle viewtopic.php?f=31&t=34992 Follow lilfeggle viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37149 Asbestosis Sux! You are right about evaporative systems not working well on days of high humidity, the system must have an exit of some sort i.e doors, windows or if you prefer to keep doors and windows closed you can opt for ceiling vents, which will assist in further cooling your home by cooling the roof space. I've never heard of floor boards warping from an evaporative system, it sounds more like a construction or sub floor moisture issue to me, if your floors are warping from moisture inside your home you'd have a musky odor and mould everywhere. ..I've seen plenty of warped floor boards in homes without evaporative cooling.
