I love having a remote control for the heater as it takes the temperature reading where ever you are. The question though is what kind of wall do you have? If concrete or brick then yes you need a conduit, but if standard stud and plaster no need for a conduit as the cable can be dropped down the wall quite easily by drilling a hole or two from the roof cavity. the conduit would need to be undamaged regardless of what network is in play.
