Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Sep 28, 2010 12:50 pm Hi all Our air conditioner had recently broken down, and a technician came out and said it was due to a broken down Compressor. He quoted us $2.6k to have the compressor replaced, with a 12 month warranty. The unit was installed in 2003, and is a Brivis Ice add-on refrigeration unit (CDU series) and has cap kw of 14kw. I tried calling Brivis, and unfortunately, they do not do out-of-warranty repairs anymore. Has anyone had any experiences with replacing compressors, and know how much it should roughly cost? I'm in Melbourne's western Suburbs. Cheers FTO Re: Replacing compressor within Brivis Ice add-on refrigerat 3Oct 08, 2010 7:42 pm cheap? really? Yes that includes labour. Bascially break down is around $1k for compressor, and $1.6k for labour. I understand that he will be replacing it with a similar compressor, being the Carlyle millenium scroll compressor. Re: Replacing compressor within Brivis Ice add-on refrigerat 8Feb 17, 2013 11:57 am Hi roonzy How much were you quoted for the fix? We just ended up getting a 9.4kw split system installed as we figured it was better value for money (low 3k) than having to spend the same amount to fix the compressor which may blow up again after 12 months. roonzy Hi, Just wandering how you end up going with this. Just been quoted for the same problem. Wander if there is a cheaper fix? you need a fridgie to answer but I would think you vac the whole system then add gas if you have a leak, unless it is new install with the gas already loaded, in that case… 1 3787 go upvc window frames ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof also not sure if you have seen this viewtopic.php?t=5823 last couple of pages… 4 111287 The last home I lived in didn't have a pool and when i went to sell it the agents were not happy, even telling me to put one in to sell the place.
