Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Sep 22, 2010 7:23 pm We are looking at the Brivis StarPro HX35i ducted heating unit for two reasons: a) it is rated at 35kW which is enough to heat our entire home b) an excellent energy rating of 5.6 to this unit we are looking to add add-on refrigerated cooling (Brivis 28IDA18 - rated at 20.5kW) A mate of mine has recently mentioned that he had read/heard that the increase in duct size required for the add-on cooling will affect the energy rating of ducted heating unit. Is this fact or fiction? I have researched the topic via this forum and Google and find nothing.... Re: Reduced efficiency when add-on cooling installed? 3Sep 22, 2010 8:30 pm dymonite69 Greater surface area of duct means higher heat losses. Thanks for the prompt reply dymonite69. So I assume that the same heat loss will apply for whatever type of system i choose to go with (IE. it'll apply equally to to gas/add-on heating/cooling as it will inverter heating/cooling). Is that correct? I'm obviously assuming here that the duct size on a gas/add-on unit would be equivalent to an inverter heating/cooling unit This stuff is so confusing Re: Reduced efficiency when add-on cooling installed? 4Sep 22, 2010 9:00 pm RCAC sized ducts are midway between gas ducted and evap ducted and well insulated. go upvc window frames ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof also not sure if you have seen this viewtopic.php?t=5823 last couple of pages… 4 110574 First time building 2 storey home, is under construction (in Framing stage) in NSW.
