Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Sep 19, 2010 12:31 am Hi guys Is there someone that can/does come out to your house to take a look at the space and advise on the best/cheapest/greenest/most efficient cooling system for your house size and needs and taking into account aspect and layout etc. Or is there somewhere you can go with a layout of the house and they will give recommendations? What size we need etc? Or do you just go into your local 'appliance' retailer? Or, where?? Do they sell all the various different types of cooling (ie ducted, evaporative, refrigerated, RC, ceiling fans????). Are they helpful in terms of working out what would work for you (going by my experience in looking for a front loader washing machine recently I am loathe to go back to HN if the level of service i got there is anything to go by). We need education on all the different types before we can start to narrow down what might be good for us. Or we need to be told by someone who understands our needs and house layout what would work best for us. Can you point me in the right direction please? Thanks, Ceebs Re: Air con question please.... 2Sep 19, 2010 2:25 am When we got our airconditioning I took our plans into some of the large heating/cooling specialists and they gave us advise on the pros and cons of the different systems and also gave us quotes for different options such as ducted/evap and split systems. You could probably get someone out to your home to quote but the plans should suffice (ours was just the floor plan layout from the real estate flyer). We went with a ducted reverse cycle system but we just got a HUGE electricity bill after our unusually cold winter ... we have been toasty warm though so I guess we can't complain. We've now extended our home and added a gas fire on the new section which I can't wait to use next winter. In summer we love our ceiling fans throughout in conjunction with the airconditioning. Hope you find something great for you Re: Air con question please.... 3Sep 19, 2010 10:54 am Thanks heaps tomandkylie...... Yes, will take layout from flyer and find an aircon specialist to get educated and work out what is best for us. I think ceiling fans sound like the way to go also. Thanks again. Ceebs 0 6272 How do you remove one of these ceiling air con vents? And is it possible to disconnect the duct joined to the vent from inside the house, without going into the roof cavity? 0 5900 Hi all, sorting out the ducted air con for a 350sqm double story house. Does this placement sound reasonable to you? Also, I plan to have 6 zones I think. Living room… 0 0 |
