Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Sep 04, 2010 3:51 pm After being told by the salesman that we had sufficient room on our northerly facing roof to install a solar hot water system, when the installers arrived they disagreed and installed it on the west facing roof (We have solar electric panels taking up much of the existing space on the north side). They assured us that this orientation would be fine, however all advice online suggests a northerly orientation as most efficient. I have found a couple of sites which have charts which have orientation on the x axis and tilt angle on the Y axis from which you can work out performance, but these have been for Sydney and Melbourne. I am in Brisbane. Can anyone suggest how I can calculate the % of any efficiency loss? I am concerned mostly about performance in winter months. This will probably be sufficient for our requirements for most of the year, but need additional boosting in winter. the sun master is the solar heating to "warm" the water in the tank the S26 is your hot water system which will heat the water (25 degrees?) so with both turned on you… 2 12437 I want to build a decking to the drawn shape outlined in black.
