It has gas ducted heating but no cooling. We have never had any type of air conditioning in any of our previous houses (don't ask me how we lived without it) so we essentially have no clue on the pros & cons of the different varieties of AC (ducted, evap, RC?) Sorry, dumb question, but I assume RC means heating and cooling in one system? If so, we don't need that because we have the ducted heating. So, does this mean either adding cooling onto our ducted heating or evaporative AC is our only option? is there any other type of AC that I am not aware of? Can anyone give me a rough idea of price for an adequate system to cool a 3 bed/2 living area, single story weatherboard in Melbourne? Not a large house - if anything average to small rooms. And finally, can anyone recommend a good shop to go to (in Melb) to get an idea of the different systems and costs - is there one place that covers them all?
