If you are talking about HVAC, and comparing systems, then you really will need to supply some prelim specs on area that will be Heated / Cooled, type of home, orientation, window area and furnishings etc.. you get the idea I'm sure. Then also what type of heating / Cooling system you are considering. Electrically speaking only, and dependent on alot of factors, Inverters ( or VSDs / VFDs / Soft Starters etc ) can assist in saving alot of energy and $$. Again, it's all in the details. If they are over-specced for the job then they start duty cycling and will work like a standard system. If they are under-specced they run continuously and the same issue occurs. We found that the initial cost difference to go from a constant compressor to an inverter would take between 9 and 11 years to recoup in the savings in running costs. Thank you so much everyone.
