Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Jul 21, 2010 3:46 pm Hi All, Would appreciate any advice you can offer regarding my steel framed and clad house in Tassie. House is a generous term, it's actually a shed structure (steel frame and colorbond cladding) built to class 1 standards. My question is: what is the best way to insulate the walls and also address condensation? I've had Air-cell recommended to me by shed manufacturers but I'm concerned about how it will deal with condensation - I think they put it on the outside just under the colorbond cladding however it's a vapour barrier which means it will trap condensation on the inside of the wall where the insulation and steel frame are - not good for either. I'm in the mountains in Tassie and it gets down to -5/-6C so there will be a heater going inside and very cold outside on the steel cladding. However Air-cell Insulbreak will provide some extra insulation (to about R1) and a thermal break for the steel frame. What do people recommend - do the insulation benefits of Air-cell on the walls override the condensation issues? Will there be condensation issues? Does anyone live in a steel clad building in a cold climate that can tell me their experience? Thanks!! Re: Insulation/Condensation Steel Clad Building Tassie 2Aug 04, 2010 3:29 pm Hi mimaranda, *This is the official registered user for Kingspan Insulation, manufacturers of Air-Cell Insulation products* Kingspan Air-Cell Insulbreak is definitely suitable for steel-framed Class 1 buildings, however, in this kind of solution Air-Cell Permishield 65 would perform better. Regarding condensation, our Technical Services team has already been made aware of this enquiry and they will be able to provide you with a calculated condensation assessment for your Climate Zone and specific to your application. If you are interested in this please contact our technical team (technical@air-cell.com.au or 1300 247 235) and the team will be able to reply with some specific and useful information. Class 1 buildings in your Climate Zone may also require additional supplementary insulation. Again our Technical Services team will be able to give you some advice on this if you wish. We’d like to wish you the best of luck with your project. 1 19722 Hi I am wanting some opinions about the build of a steel shed I am going to get one about 4.5 x 2.5 m steel shed and the height will be about 2.3-2.4m high The one I am… 0 14442 Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed.
