Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation Re: Recerse cycle LG Air Cons Purged? 4Jun 30, 2010 1:34 am Thanks for the help, Yeah I called LG and they said to just gather evidence against the installer and take them to a Tribunal! The distance from the pump to the head is around 10 meters so gas may not be the issue. It was getting late by the time they finished the job and as they had no work lights I'd say they gave the evac a miss which is causing cavitation thus low suction which in turn causes the units to freeze over. The units make loud whooshing sounds on start up like there is a heap of air trapped in the pipes. There are no isolation switches anywhere in line and the circuit breaker is the only switch for the both. It would be interesting to know if this poor method of wiring is standard practice as it seems pointless to loose the ability to run one unit while the other may be out of order. I worked in the mines and its oversights like this design that causes injury. I once saw a bloke who was working on a Torrens screen take a ride up a conveyor belt and nearly ended up going through a cone crusher due to there being insufficient isolation points. I got my first power bill since installing the Air Cons and it was over $600. My average bill before fitting these things was around $250! They are so inefficient the way they are running at present I'd be better off installing a gas heater, if I had any money left They are Inverter models and are supposed to ramp up and down according to the inside temp but I've never seen them run other than flat out the whole time. The problems stem from these contractors who have so much work lined up that they just don't give a damn if they loose a few customers, this is clear. The way they spoke to me on the phone while trying to identify the problems right at the start clearly shows this. Had they even offered some advice or helped identify the problem to see me on the right track would of gone a long way to seeing a happy customer. Even when I explained that I have a disability and that I could no longer chop my own wood did they even in the slightest try and assist. Their exact words were "You paid us to plonk them in and wire them up, that's it" Most would assume that an installation would include getting the units operating correctly before packing up their tools and as I paid a fair amount for the install, they made a easy dollar out of me. I've been quoted to sort the air cons out for $300 each but as its winter there is a waiting list of nearly a month or more so I guess its back to the Kmart blow heaters again. Thanks for your advice fellas. It sounds like a case of buyer beware in my case Cheers Standard uninsulated double brick has an R value of around 0.7.
