Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Jun 22, 2010 5:09 pm Hi All, Hopefully a quick question. I'm about to install a Multi Head Split System (2 heads & 1 condensor) for my unit. My unit layout is as follows: Bedroom: 15m Living: 41m Living has large glass sliding door - north facing. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I've had an air conditioning company provide me with a quote and it is the following: Brand: Daikin Bedroom: 3.5kW FTXS35JVMA Living: 7.1kW FTXS71GVMA Outdoor Unit: 8kW 4MXS80 Do these seem like overkill? Total of quote including install (20amp outlet already supplied on balcony) comes to $5,000 Does this seem excessive i) on price? and ii) on recommended units? Re: Air Con advice - Have I been over quoted? 2Jun 22, 2010 9:21 pm Whereabouts are you...? Should be mandatory here for everyone to have their location clearly displayed in their sig or under their avatar...! There's either a mix up with unit numbers or things are not right... FTXS35JVMA is supposedly not compatible with multi-split systems... you need a FTXS35GVMA... And FTXS71GVMA is obsolete and has been replaced with FTXS71JVMA... Size wise the 71 looks OK but the 35 looks overkill... having said that the trade difference in price between a FTXS35GVMA and a FTXS25GVMA is less than $20 so what the hell... Price wise that's dirt cheap... and I do mean dirt cheap... but that's for where I am... make sure you're getting it from a Daikin Dealer - there can be warranty issues getting Daikin equipment from outside the dealer network... You are right i've just checked the quote and i messed up the model numbers. Bedroom: FTXS35GVMA Living: FTXS71JVMA The condensor unit is listed as 8kW - now I don't know much about air cons, but looking at the units 3.5kW and 7.1kW tells me 10.6kW requirements?? is that the way it works? Oh and I'm based in Sydney also. Re: Air Con advice - Have I been over quoted? 4Jun 23, 2010 5:45 am Mupps IceMan There's either a mix up with unit numbers or things are not right... The 4MXS80EVMA outdoor unit can have up to 4 fancoils attached with a total capacity of up to 14.5kW Re: Air Con advice - Have I been over quoted? 6Jun 27, 2010 11:43 pm okay i sought a second opinion and have been quoted on a Fujitsu system, which is obviously cheaper. However the specs are different - and i'm wondering now if the Fujitsu is under capacity - or is actually more suited to my size - can anyone offer advice? New quote: Brand: Fujitsu Bedroom: 2.7kW ASTA09LACM Living: 5.0kW ASTA18LACM Outdoor: 5.8kW AOT24LMAM2 (total cap 7.8kW) Looking at Fujitsu's sizing charts it would appear that I am on the threshold of the ASTA18L's capacity. Is it better to run to the capacity of a unit (Fujitsu) - or is it better to have more capacity than required (Daiken)? ie. would i notice a difference? Price for Fujitsu is $1.2k cheaper How do you remove one of these ceiling air con vents? And is it possible to disconnect the duct joined to the vent from inside the house, without going into the roof cavity? 0 5900 Hi all, sorting out the ducted air con for a 350sqm double story house.
