Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation Re: Heating your roof space and not your house 15Jun 10, 2010 1:06 pm this is a interesting thread, it's been 12 months now since I had my new ducted air installed & still having alot of contracting noise from the duct vents. I got the installers out on a service call after a couple of weeks after installation & they claimed no air was coming from the ducts into the roof space & the noise was only coming from the steel frame & the roof space. I stated to them if no hot air is coming from the ducts why I hearing it the noise only when the air is on. Using Cooling the noise is hardly heard. I was finally told by a building contact who has has dealt with a lot of steel framed houses states heat does come through the ductwork into the roof space. suggestion was made that changing to insulated duct work might reduce the noise. My ducting only had cotton wool type of material inside the tubing. After reading this thread maybe a lot of air is also coming for where the ducting is attached to the vents. At times I think the noise is also the plastic vents heating up. I was thinking of getting some sort of consultant to access the installation. Joe Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
