Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 May 10, 2010 9:28 pm I have searched through forums, an even called Actron Air in Melbourne, about running cost of Actronair in terms of kWh but could not find answers (Actron Air staff said to call me back but haven't received any call at all). Could anyone please tell me how many kWh does an Actron Air nett (rated) capacity of 14.7KW or 23KW consume per hour? (Assuming that it run at its maximum capacity). Or please tell me how much money do you normally (average) spend for winter or summer? Re: AVERAGE Actron Air Running Cost in terms of kWh or money 2May 10, 2010 10:25 pm This question can't be answered without more information. The heating requirements for a house can vary four-fold between an average house to one constructed for energy efficiency. Factors that influence heating requirements are: 1) The climate of your district e.g. how cold it gets 2) The area of the house being heated at any one time 3) The number of days per year that you are likely to need heating 4) The number of hours you heat each day 5) The thermostat levels you set 6) The level of insulation and weather-sealing in the house including the presence of window coverings or double glazing. These factors may be important than how efficient your air-conditioner is. Other things to consider in RCAC are duct losses and the flexibility of your zones. My question is how many kW of power does the 23KW (capacity) Actron Air consume per hour? Assume that it runs at its max capacity (what I mean is that just turn on the Actron Air Unit at its maximum speed for 1 hour then turn it on for 1 hour at minimum capactiy. From kWh we can work out the cost. Has any one has add on Actron Air System please give me some ideas? For example, if the 23 Kw model you are looking at is the one I looked up, then the input power as detailed in the brochure is 7.21 Kw. So, if you are paying (say) 20c per Kw/hr, this will cost $1.44 per hour to run at it's maximum capacity. Of course, as others have pointed out, it won't run at it's maximum capacity all the time unless it's grossly under-sized for the cooling/heating task. Sorry I don't have the specs on me, but with an ERR of about 3.3 my 19kW could burn as much as 5.9kW (19/3.3) if it needs to run flat chat BUT being an ESP+ I don't think it ever runs at full pelt. Lets put it this way, the increase in my power bill pre and post air-con is NOTHING. Yep that's right nothing. Granted our house is pretty cool so we only ever run it for 30 minutes at a time, maybe a couple of times a day here or there, on one of those "hotest days on record" we ran it for about 1.5 - 2 hours. So I have no fear of power bills due to the Actron, it's the power company and govt I fear because they're the ones that'll jack the price up.
