Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 May 03, 2010 6:27 pm Hello All, The home which I am building through a Builder already comes with Ducted Heating. I have asked for the addition of ducted evaporative cooling and he has advised me that the ducts can be increased in size to accomodate both. Consequently, I have a few questions and would welcome any comments. 1. Have any others followed this strategy (ie using only one duct) and if so, what were your experiences? 2a. Can the house be zoned off in different areas using such a system and if so, how much extra would it cost to include this option? 2b. Does the ducted heating system come with any form of a timer so as to allow me to choose in advance when I turn it on/off? If not, is it possible to upgrade to one that does, and if so what kind of cost would I be looking at? Many Thanks in advance, Chorlton TIMING OF BUILD 25Feb - Site Start 25Mar - Base Stage Complete 31Mar - Frame Completed 11Apr - Roof Tiles 20Apr - Brickwork Started Re: Ducted Heating / Cooling Questions... 2May 05, 2010 11:59 am Hi Chorlton, All of these things you're asking about are very normal and available on most systems; zoning, 24hr/7day timers, same ducts. Get the builder to give you the name of the company they're using and have a word to them about it. I'm sure they'll explain how it all works and what options you have with their systems. The builder is getting confused with Refrigerated air cond and heating. There is a reason why refrigerate systems can be called add on while evaps are not. Re: Ducted Heating / Cooling Questions... 4May 05, 2010 2:05 pm I agree with above, you can only add on Refrigerated Aircon not Evap Cooling - so do think about running costs etc Site Start: 10th September, 2010 PCI : Friday 27th January, 2011.
