Hello,
Maybe some of you are aware that as of March last year we cannot install electric hot water system in the new houses in QLD. A lot of builders therefore, looking for something cheap (for them) offer gas system or heat pump.
As far as I understand and was told - heat pump is a water tank with connected airconditioner that extracts hot air from atmosphere and pump it to the tank. It is therefore energy efficient.
And here is my problem. The builder next door offering a house and a land package moved the house to the back and installed the heat pump just in front of our living and bedroom area. The distance between the unit to the fence is 1.3 and further 3 m from the fence to the edge of our house.
In my worse nightmare I could not imagine that this unit will keep me awake for the last nine months! It is set up to work during off peak electricity and is soooo noisy.
I did complain to the council and didn't get any reaction for quite a while... let's say - until I wrote to local councillor. We have just gone through a noise assessment and the noise level is twice over the limit!
Is there anyone here that can tell me why it is so noisy? Should it be so noisy? If all the brochures shows 50 decibels as the level of noise why they setting it up to work during night?
Kate
