I have been doing research and seem to get a lot of conflicting information from web sites regarding air flow, noise levels and pricing..... Any information would be greatly appreciated Re: Whol House Fan 2Feb 25, 2010 11:29 am I've got a whole house fan specified for my build. It is located at the to of the stiarwell. Can't say how good it is since we haven't finihsed building yet. My intention is to only use it on summer nights to helo get the inside temperature down. Will be used on those still summer nights when it's hard to get proper ventialation to cool the house down and maybe for a few hours just before sunrise to help get the inside of the house close to the outside temperature ready for a full day of heat. I should also add that my house is full brick and has double glazed windows. They can move similar amounts of air as a whole house fan and also provide evap cooling if needed. Re: Whole House Fan 4Feb 25, 2010 6:21 pm Not in Sydney:) No evap coolers here;) Casa, and details on the fan you're using? This whole house fan thing is very common in the US, but not so much here from what I can see. I thought about it for our place, but put it in the category of "too hard" when the builder looked at me like I was from Mars:) Don't know why they haven't caught on here, very efficient way to cool off your house when those cool changes come in around here. Greg Re: Whole House Fan 5Feb 27, 2010 9:30 am They've been designed and sold here for a long time by an Aussie company. http://www.cardiffair.com.au I've seen one in action and on display at the home ideas centre in Brissy - There might be one at the same centre in NSW? Re: Whole House Fan 6Feb 27, 2010 8:30 pm The fan I've got specified in my contract is a Breeze Power 915 mm. I had to pick something quickly since I needed to include it in the contract and this was the first one I came across (http://www.breezepower.com.au/whole-house-fans.html) Thanks Yak_Chat for identifying an alternative. It seems the one from Air exchange doesnt move the same volume of air as the others but from what I can tell it seems pretty simple to install. gpierce, I have been looking at websites in the states and came across http://www.quietcoolfan.com and http://www.tamtech.com (There is a link on Air exchange website to Tamtech) their whole house fans move a lot less volume of air compared to some of the units over here but they seem very simple to install, being from the states have you heard of these manufacturers? I read somewhere that some whole house fans can sound like a jet engine, this is a little concerning to me. Casa2, how long do you have before completion, I would really like to know what you think of the Breeze Power fan, positives negatives etc Thanks. Re: Whole House Fan 8Mar 05, 2010 2:44 pm Neither of those company names are familiar to me. But, it's a big country;) I have heard of these guys: (RE Williams) http://www.wholehousefan.com/ If I were there they would by my choice.
