Hey all,
Here's a question which might seem obvious to many out there. So let's say that I have gas ducted heating through my house and a 3.5 kw (heating power) reverse cycle split system in my study, roughly 15 m2 (~1.6 sq). The living space of the house is 23 squares divided over 2 floors, so a zoned system only needs to handle ~11.5 sq to give you an idea of the size of the ducted system required.
I know traditionally gas heating is more cost effective than reverse cycle heating over a whole house, but I'm curious by how much since energy costs seem to be rising and the gap between the two might be closer together.
For example, if heating the whole first floor with gas is more expensive than heating the one room with electricity, what about heating a larger open area (like a family/kitchen/meals area).
I guess I'm essentially looking for the average cost to heat 1 square with electricity vs 1 square in gas so I can plug it into a spreadsheet
Thanks!
