Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Aug 11, 2007 10:06 pm Hi,
We are in the process of finalising the design details of the PD Hamilton 34 but are having trouble deciding on where to put the jetmaster fireplace. We love the appearance of the two-way jetmaster that is on the dividing wall between the formal lounge and dining room but we are concerned that a) it might burn the table over a period of time and b) it might be too hot for people sitting in front of it. Our other option is to have it just in the formal lounge. To see what I mean, have a look at the Hamilton 34 on the PD website and look at the Caroline Springs or Keysborough displays. http://porterdavishomes.com.au/ Would love some opinions here.. Re: Location of Fireplace - Opinions Needed 2Aug 11, 2007 10:55 pm I'd just have it in the formal lounge. I think it would be too hot for people sitting at the table. Since the house is centrally heated the fireplace is really for ambience. It's nice to sit around it after dinner but a bit too much for mealtimes especially for those closest. Re: Location of Fireplace - Opinions Needed 9Aug 14, 2007 1:32 pm Thanks everyone. I know I can turn it down but my concern is that it will still give off heat even if it is turned down and make people uncomfortable - given it's less than a metre away from the table.
If it still gives off heat and I actually have to turn it off while we are eating then it kind of defeats the purpose of having it there. I'd love to hear from someone who has selected this option in the dining room.. Re: Location of Fireplace - Opinions Needed 10Aug 23, 2007 5:39 pm Have you heard of ecosmart fires? No installation required and it runs on pure alcohol (sold as metholated spirits so its not attractive to drink)
Very ambiant and small enough not to pose too much of a heat problem. www.ecosmartfire.com Building a Jandson Espirit in Pennant Hills "What is the use of a home, if you haven't got a tolerable planet to put it on?"Henry Daniel Thereau Re: Location of Fireplace - Opinions Needed 11Aug 23, 2007 7:59 pm ![]() Have you heard of ecosmart fires? Ta! Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: Location of Fireplace - Opinions Needed 13Sep 15, 2007 5:16 pm I ended up going with the two-way. It just looks fantastic and given the only reason I'm getting it at all is for ambience, I thought why not. I also went to the display, turned on the fireplace and sat there for a while to see if it was too hot and it seemed ok. ![]() Re: Location of Fireplace - Opinions Needed 14Sep 15, 2007 5:41 pm ![]() Have you heard of ecosmart fires?
