However that pipe is probably put there as a vent pipe. In SA it is not legal to discharge it to stormwater (street gutter) and since many rainwater tank users drink their rainwater (including me) that is not the place for it either. The simplest, best and easiest method is to drill a hole in the sewer vent pipe above the roof level and put it in there. Plastic pipe, no rusting gutters, no contamination. Only disadvantage is to check the bleed-off flow you need get on the roof.
