Hi Guys ..
We are getting quite a few downlights in our new home. For the ones downstairs between the beams/joists, we were told that no downlight cover is needed .. these are normal GU10 240volt ones ..
But for first floor where there is ceiling insulation, we were told to get heat covers if we were using GU10's .. but since the downlights will be CFL (compact fluro lamps) the energy saving ones, they have said the guards or heat covers are NOT needed ..
Can anyone confirm if that is okay? for one, the normal covers don't fit over the CFL lights, and two the electrical shop says they don't get too hot ..
I just want an opinion if anyone has done so ..
Cheers!
