Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation Re: Slow Combustion or Bottled Gas- advice please 5Feb 15, 2010 9:05 pm indi Our old house was open plan and our slow combustion easily heat the whole place (about 23 squares). Can't imagine any decorative heater heating that area. A gas wall furnace has a rated max gas input of around 40MJ/hr. This would be equivalent to about 2.5 kg of wood per hour in a combustion stove. A wood stove can simply combust more fuel if required. The intense radiant heat from a stove also can heat distant objects in the room quicker so that they themselves acts as remote heat sources. This may also help distribute the heat more rapidly than the fan in a wall heater. Versaloc is a mortarless besser block system that still needs a properly engineered footing.
